Firmware update improvements?

Post by tmatos75 »

I did the OS update first. It worked as expected.
I tested the keyboard, and liked it.
Then I updated the firmware.
Other than the new icons on the boot up screen, what else does the firmware add?
I cant tell.

From the same place where you've downloaded the firmware update, there's also release information to be found:

Changes
• Reliability has been improved for USB MIDI transmissions to USB3.0 ports on Windows computers.
• The start-up display has been modified, and now includes logos representing the KRONOS synth engines.

So unless you're connecting the KRONOS to a USB3.0 port on a Windows-PC, this firmware update doesn't really do anything important.

Depending on the version of the firmware previously installed in the KRONOS (there have been several), there are other improvements as well. Because of this, I recommend that all KRONOS and KRONOS X users upgrade the firmware.

Thanks for the extra info, Dan. In that case it's always good to update the firmware.

I noticed that I no longer have to remove the USB drive when booting. I don't know if this is new with this release or not, as I have been removing it to prevent the dreaded system startup failure, remove usb devices.... message. When replacing my setlists from USB after the update, I was distracted and left it in. Kronos booted right up, so I've been leaving it in....

Dan, can you be more specific about the "other improvements"? There is nothing in the release notes except the two items quoted above.

Where is the current version of firmware displayed in the Kronos? Under Global / Options Info / System, I see the Version (KRONOS 2.0.6) and Memory listed.
