Triton to Extreme compatability?

Post by jackson111 »

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if PCGs are compatible between these two boards(Korg Triton Studio and Korg Triton Extreme)? How about sequences? Any input will be welcomed! Thanks!

Afaik they are compatible, however the valve is not taken into account and the Extreme has many more samples (so programs using samples only in the Extreme might not be audible).

Studio to Extreme, yes. Extreme has the same triton classic ROM (used by the studio .pcg) in correct order and references samples correctly, plus i think the stock arps and drums (global) are the same for both Studio and Extreme.

Classic/studio programs and combis are already there.

There are differences in some of the EXB sample banks and I don't know if their global data references correctly - tho their drum kits and arps are in the TREX ROM.

Extreme to studio... yeah, but:

But - You have to have all the EXB's installed in the studio.

But - You will need to load in the drum kit and arp data from the Extreme (there's enough room).

But - You'll need to have a reference (extreme) to see where the ROM sample order is different and where EXB libraries are different or cut short.
- - - - - -

It's possible to duplicate any extreme voice/combi on a tricked out studio; you just have to be willing to do a lot of cross-checking and editing.

A fully loaded studio is actually a little more capable than the extreme, except for the tube (as noted by others).
