I'll offer an opinion as I used to own the CP-1 and worked with the Rhodes sounds quite extensively. Below is my tweaked Kronos Mark II. The tone of the Kronos is far more accurate, is more expressive and more accurate from softest touch to full bark. The Kronos sounds organic. IMO, there's no comparison.

They both sound great imo.

If they were smart, Yamaha, Korg, Roland, Nord and Kurzweil should all contact Busch to do some programming and/or tweaking of sounds/samples for their keyboards.

I jus love the sound of Motif guitars both acoustic and electric, as well as the Motif electric basses. Yamaha have really nailed these sounds IMHO and leave Korg and Kurzweil in the dust and also beat the Roland Fantoms (which IMHO also have some very nice guitar sounds).

What I love about the Kronos is the way Korg can release future PCM expansions that could be loaded onto the Kronos' SSD drive. Perhaps Korg could release dedicated HD1 expansions for acoustic and electric guitars and basses.

I have also played an Oasys and tried out the guitar programs. IMHO, they are inferior to a MotifES/XS/XF or S90ES/XS.

I'm certain that Korg reps are taking note of our suggestions. I only hope that they don't decide to banish the Kronos like they did with the Oasys.

If they would banish the Kronos then probably an even better instrument will replace it, so it's more like a name. Don't count that you will get every addon free - if there will be even addons.

I just read a new review of the Jupiter 80 from a major music magazine in the UK where the reviewer states and I quote

"The 'Supernatural Acoustic' tones are superb (as we mentioned earlier) and if you're careful how you layer and play them, they could almost pass for the real thing. They respond smoothly and authentically and this really is as close as you can get to playing the real instruments but on a keyboard."

If you thought the Jupiter-80 was a joke wake up because it's not .

here's a link to the full review . Enjoy

I was confused, since the title of this post was something about Kronos vs some Yamaha keyboard, and the above comment has links to a review on the Jupiter 80 - bleah.... This topic (including my comment on someones comment) has become soooooooooooo dead and irrelevant. Put the ol' girl out of it's misery!

Just had an extensive session with Kronos. Already own an xf for a year now.
Here's the deal...IMO

Piano- Kronos ( by far)
Electric piano- Kronos ( more realistic)
Gutiar- xf ( especially acoustic)
Solo brass and woodwind- xf
Ensemble- tie
Organ- Kronos
Synth- Kronos
Weighted keys yet lighter keyboard-Kronos( 73 key)
instant acces to sounds via number pad- Kronos
No cutoff when switching patches- Kronos

So clearly, for what's important to me. The Kronos wins and will be purchased.

In my studio there is no 'vs'

The Motif XF6 and the Kronos 6, get along better than most of the forum posters. I find them swapping rolls often, one provide melody & leads, with the other supplying rythyms or just comping.

Funnything. When I had the Motif XS and M3 together, I had a hard time reading the display of the Motif XS. Now it's reversed, I have a hard time reading the Kronos.
Kronos-6, Krome, M3, Radias, KingKorg, microKorg, KP-2, KP-3, KO-1, KO-1 PRO, Karma, microX, monotron, monotribe, PadCONTROL, Wavedrum Mini, Volca Keys, Beats, Bass, Sample, monotron Duo & Delay, microArranger, M1, Wavestation, Volca Sample, Keys, Beats & Bass, MS-20

JD-XA, JD-Xi, Aira (system 1, TB3, TR8, MX-1), Prophet 12, Mopho X4, Jupiter-80, FA-06, D50, CS1x, CZ101, DX200, AN200, analogFOUR, MachineDrum, MonoMachine, Motif XF6, Virus Snow, Nord Lead 2X, OP-1, MFOS, Tenori-on, QY100, QY70, meeblip se, miniBrute, microBrute, Bass Station 2

Why be so rude . If you would read the comment I replied to you will see the words Motif, Yamaha , Korg , Kurzweil and Roland all mentioned . So you don't have to be confused it appears you just choose to . What do you have against the JP-80 ? You didn't rant about the other synths mentioned.

Rocness wrote:Both are great workstations and have something special to offer so your question shouldn't be which one to get but which one to get first .

Now mind you I don't own a Motif or a Kronos but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn last night . :)
Actually the original topic question didn't have anything in it about Roland or Kurzweil, but I do appreciate your honest appraisal of both the Kronos and Motif (of which you don't own either!).

I don't know why I've taken a disliking to your posts, but I couldn't help not pointing out a few things :) (double negatives are attention getters!).

Your latest posts do seem to be very dominated by your praise of the JP80. However, this is a Korg forum. So, repeated mention of the JP80 by yourself is likely to start getting a bit tedius

Your profile does not show which boards you actually have. Did you get a JP80?

Ok , yea I need to update that . I have a Korg Oasys , I don't have a JP-80 but I really like it . So I will leave out gracefully at this time. I would hate to see what happened to the Jp-80 thread happened here so please don't comment on my post and it will fade away . sorry guys .

Actually I don't mind much where the X versus Y posts are ... if I am not interested in the topic (name), I don't read its content.
