Anyone knows more about these cases? I'd like to know more about that official korg case, but it seems it's not available anywhere, except for some online shops in Japan.. Not sure if they will become available elsewhere.McHale wrote:Does anyone from Korg USA know if those awesome cases are coming to the US?

For that amount of money, can it carry or roll itself?devix wrote:jick wrote:Anyone knows more about these cases? I believe the case for my Triton Pro was from these guys, although the manufacturer label has long since got lost - great quality case.
I'm a concerned about the vector joystick, the joystick, and the screen on the Kronos. I really don't want them to touch with the side of the case. Do these guys accomodate for that in their design?

I never had any problem with the joysticks of my Korgs (Korg N264, Triton Extreme, M50) in any case I had.

Agreed! I never worried about my Triton's joystick - it was very sturdy. The M3-style are a little more bendable but not by much.michelkeijzers wrote:I never had any problem with the joysticks of my Korgs (Korg N264, Triton Extreme, M50) in any case I had.
I once saw an M3 where the joystick had been bent into a hook-like shape, although I'm sure that was due to a lack of basic respect for the instrument.
The Kronos vector joystick, on the other hand, seems soooo fragile it scares me. That's the one I'm particularly worried about.

It would not have been necessary if it could be bent 'inside' the case. meaning it does not have to go back to its default (center/up) position, so it would be nice if you could have moved it towards the case and 'fix' it with a clip or something similar while transporting. or maybe even take it off and place it in some clip which is built in the case.islanddave wrote:Agreed! Does anyone know if this SKB case will work for the 61 key Kronos or do I have to get the 76 key case (which would be harder to fit in the the car sideways [05 Pontiac Vibe])
1SKB-4214W: http://www.skbcases.com/music/products/ ... &c=88&s=76#
I saw other SKB cases mentioned here (McHale for his 88, or did he get the Gator?) but not specifically a 61 and the ATA SKB case. (unless I missed it somehow) If someone does have this case and the 61, how do you like it? Is it a good fit with enough padding left over?
I guess the 2nd choice would be the Gator 61 hard case if its a better fit (and not having to go with a 76 case) I just gig locally and carry my keyboards in the car, sometimes in the band trailer. Never go flying with it. I also did see the older SKB ATA SKB-4214 case for about $199 on GuitarCenter.com. That could be a 1st or second option if it fits.
(PS. Any word yet on the official Korg case for US customers?)
Thanks,
Dave
* Edit - (On second thought, the new Gator hard case doesnt look all that bad. I dont see any straps on this one, which is good right? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTLFNU_8 ... re=related)

I have one of those SKB cases for 61 keys. The Kronos 61 fits, but it's tight.
If you're not going to fly, that's ok, this case will do.
Just make sure you never put anything heavy on top of it, like another keyboard case. The top can bend down and ruin your knobs and joystick.

Thanks Phabius. Good to know. Is there enough padding left to adequately keep it from getting damaged (no-flight type moving around) do you think? Anyone have the Gator hard case for the 61? Is it as tight as the SKB?

These cases come with extra padding. You can arrange these extra pieces of foam as you like, in "puzzle form".
But you won't use any of them except for the ones that can be sticked to the inner side of the top cover (the keyboard fills the case completely, no space for extra foam on the sides, front, or back). Just choose the appropriate places to stick to the inner side of the top cover, so they fit between the knobs, joystick, and other fragile parts of the front panel. You can cut and shape these pieces of foam to make some kind of protection enclosures for the joystick, for example, just in case someone places the case upside down (like they usually do).
The gator is more fragile than the SKB (hardware wise).
But always keep in mind: If you're gonna fly, forget it. Get a pro level flight case made of aluminum, with LOTS of high/medium density foam inside. I had a Triton Extreme 61 inside this SKB case for a tour in Europe. It came home with six or seven broken keys, two knobs damaged, and a totally ruined joystick (it happened more than once).
