User Sample Banks in OS 2.02

Post by BasariStudios »

I just tested it and it works perfectly. This is the AWESOMEST thing i have
ever seen on a machine. But there is one Problem!:

Your Old Sets which you will convert to User Sampbe Banks you have to
reedit them in Program Mode, in Basic when you go to Osc you now have
to reselect the Multisample for each Layer and Osc. It kinda sucks but its good.

The procedure is Quick, you just RESAVE your old Set and now it creates
2 KSC instead of one, one original as always KORG.KSC and one will be
KORG_USERBANKS.KSC.
The USERBANK.KSC is the one as an EXs. You can still Load the old fashioned
way all of it in RAM or you can use the USERBANK.KSC to Load the EXs.

My 260MB of Strings now take only 30MB of RAM...DANG!!!

Just thought to share this info, someone might find it helpfull.

Quick tip on the re-edits that you mention. Take note of the number associated with the multisample prior to switching to the User Bank version and then just use the keypad to call up the same number in the User Bank.

Make sense?

Yup, i forgot to mention that, we can use this Topic to discuss all that stuff,
as you said, the Reference to the specific order is lost, you always have to
take a note which KMP was there.

Hi Folks,

Take a look at the "Converting older sounds" section on p. 155 of the updated Op Guide. (It's page 163 / 287 of the PDF.)

There is a new menu command available from the Osc pages, called Remap MS/Sample Banks. Via this dialog, you can fix up all the Multisample bank Ids in one batch operation. This can help you avoid manual editing, thus avoiding the need to "remember" the Multisample numbers which you need to do when editing manually.

Just be sure to pay attention to which selection of Programs you choose for Remap via that dialog, so you only remap the ones you want.

Hope this helps.

Steve,

are these new guides completely new guides (completely new) with all updated information or just a new guide to use in addition to the old ones

I'm wondering if I can now delete the old versions that I have on the iPad and just use the new ones completely.

If you look on the same page of the Op Guide that I mentioned above, this message does in fact appear in the Load dialog.

I suggest you go through that section of the manual and read it closely, and try following the steps as laid out, to get comfortable with the process and expected behaviors.

so it's supposed to be there...ok cool.

well i still didn't have the samples on the ssd drive. so i've corrected that and doing it again...

by the way, I pushed load and did it like the manual said and when it loaded.... it says it was taking up 0 space (in the global menu autoload page)

The manuals are complete. They also contain some improvements for descriptions of older features, as well as info for the new stuff in 2.0.
