Kronos and Sound Effects

Post by ron@ronniereverb.com »

Does the Kronos have a module to create or utilize sound effects like thunder, rain, gun shots, crowd applause, etc., etc.? If so, where is it found?

They are typically part of the GM program banks. Please mind, that the GM bank has sub-banks as well, where some more programs are located

Yes, there are some nice effects....I don't remeber the correct name, but, I think that is the last category on PROG mode.

Also check out www.freesound.org
You can put any sample you find there into the Kronos.

Kronos thunder and rain is used on this track :) 100% Kronos

I must say that the Kronos fart sounds are particularly good

Hey thanx Sander; haven't been on here in a while, good to hear from you again. I've already emailed freesound, as from it is extremely difficult from all this legalese, to understand if they want users to use sound bits or not, in my case, simply some background noises for an audio skit or play to post for others to listen to on my website.

You got me stumped! Is there an exact location for thunder? rain? I went all thru A111 all the way thru the piano effects to A127, Vocoder; a lot of interesting stuff, but didn't find any thunder or rain.

Sounds good! Where exactly would I find that thunder and rain?

Also, could one plug in usb to usb, kronos to mac and record such effects right into a track in garage band or Logic?

Yes, every sound on the Kronos can be recorded into a DAW through the USB-connection.

It is no problem to record audio or midi directly into a DAW. Here a link to the video I did for Logic pro:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcC3X_uvnUQ

As I stated in an earlier post - Open the VNL (Voice Name List) document and search on the sound name you want. There is more than one thunder as I recall, and it will give you the bank and program number.

Also I believe with the "pipe line" or whatever it's called connection, as I've running back tracks from my pc right into garage band thru the input/output jacks. Should be able to do the same thru the Kronos output phono jack.
