KORG KRONOS > ROLAND V SYNTH GT?

soo i got the money but im trying to figoure out which one is better for sfx/emotions/strings and generally atmospheres i never got a keyboard product that wasnt KORG but i wonder...tell me ur opinion kronos users

The best way is to test them in a store: 'better' is very subjective.

it depends what you already have...

The kronos is a better version of what is already out there.. the Vsynth GT is well, a Vsynth..

So if you dont have any synths and need an 'all in one box" then its clearly the Kronos.., but if you already have say an M3 or Motif XS/XF and say a decent VA then you may get more mileage out of the Vsynth GT.. it simply does things other synths cannot.

I used to own an Oasys & it was used for making Detroit inspired techno / deep ambient & complex sound designs. You cannot go wrong with the Kronos if that's what you're looking to do.

They are really different and compliment each other very well. If I had to pick one for your purposes I guess I would go Kronos because it is a workstation. If you are using an external DAW, I'm not sure the choice is so easy.

I bought a GT a few weeks back - it's great and I'm very pleased with it.
I wouldn't see it as as an alternative to the K though, it's in no way a workstation. I got it because I think it will compliment the K very well.

Reading your description of what you exactly need, even though i love Kronos
and is the Best all in one synth outthere the VSynth would be the best choice
for you, i have them Both and the M3 too, i have the GT version.
Remember, the VSynth WAS actually made for that purpose, Experimental,
SoundScapes, Ambiences e tc...Kronos can't do what VSynth can.

The big one is also considering polyphony. My V-SynthXT is great, but I wouldn't want to start layering too many sounds together, as it's too limited (imho).
Tough one - they both have their merits, but it's down to what supporting kit you've got.

i've got the M3 and the V-synth GT: if you are going to spend time programming your own sounds and want to have fun doing it, go for the V-synth. the user interface is simply stunning and very very well laid. everything seems to be in the page where you expect it to be for creating your sound. with M3 (and before with trinity) the GUI is not so clever and sometimes programming can be frustrating.

V-synth GT is great for experimental and weird sounds (as well as classic VA and analog and some acoustic sounds), the AP Synthesis offers new direction for sounds.

the only thing really missing in V-synth GT is the multi-track sequencer, drum-track and the IFX section can be better.

kronos, well you know, is more a "traditional" workstation with multi-track seq, combis, drum-track and its uber 9 synth engines.
anyway i believe (never tried kronos) that also from kronos, having wave sequencing and MOD-7 you can create very interesting landscape and ambient sounds. but still i think that deep programming on kronos is harder then on V-synth GT

I get really frustrated that people only see the Kronos as a workstation & not a synth for messing with. I NEVER used the Oasys in a workstation regard, i used all it's power for creating the most detailed, complex & beautiful sound designs, pads & drones.

I don't think people see the Kronos that way. It is just that the V is pretty special.

Well I was in a bit of a rush when replying but I certainly didn't
mean to imply that. I'm very much looking forward to exploring the tremendous depth that the Kronos has to offer - and the V - Synth is also capable of some amazing things.
