Help, now I can't load EX3

Post by keydude »

Hey all. I'm not able to execute my EX3 load successfully. I have 2 GB of RAM. I am able to play COMBI U-G000 - U-G003 for some reason.

I received my auth code from KORG re: the free EX3. It turns out that the library is already on my OASYS, (at least when I go to "DISK" it says all of the PROGRAMS and COMBIs are there).

If I go to "DISK" > "FACTORY" > "EXS3.PCG" all of the files are there on the disk. I go to "LOAD SELECTED," it replies "loading into memory." I go to "PROGRAMS", all of the programs are on the USER G Bank, but there is no sound. The COMBIs are also on the COMBI USER G bank, (but like I said I can only play UG000 - UG003).

If I go to "GLOBAL" > "EXPANSION SAMPLE SETUP," there is not a blank box for me to check where I should get a subsequent request for the "Auth code."

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Do I have to go to KORG and get the disks, even though EX3 is apparently already resident on my machine? Thanks. Keydude

You have to load the sample sounds from disk otherwise there is no sample data for the programs / combis to use.

And since there is not enough memory you probably need to remove another sound sample bank.

He is probably not aware of the fact, that there is enough memory to load ALL available sample expansions (EXs1 to 3) at the same time into the RAM, if you have expanded the RAM of your OASYS to 2GB.

Don't understand your problem I'm afraid although would like to help!

When you're in Global/Expansion setup - what do you see?

I see three boxes that can be checked (Exs1, 2 and 3). I check them all. Then I restart. All sounds are there.

What's different for you?

PS What OS are you running?

Understand that there ain't enough memory for everything to be loaded, but sounds like the problem is to do with no EXS3 data loaded rather than lack of memory.......

Also the lack of a blank box for the Authorisation code means the EXS3 disks haven't been loaded doesn't it?

Korguser.net tells us what to do if we haven't received the EXS3 disks.

Thanks all for getting back re: EX3 load problem

Post by keydude »

Thanks for getting back to me folks. So, I have 2 GB, and my understanding is that I should be able to load EXs1, and EXs2, (and maybe 3).

But when I go to "Global" > "Basic Setup" (dropdown Menu) > "Expansion Sample Setup" I only get 2 boxes, EXs1 and EXs2.

But it baffles me that some of the samples are loaded and I get sound on a few of the COMBIs. The USER G bank is loaded in COMBI and PROGRAMS.

I read somewhere in the documentation that SOME of the OASYS's were loaded with the banks and all I had to do was authorize.

I guess I'll have to get the disks.

BTW, I am running 1.3.3 OS.

Hi keydude,

did you follow TonyGen´s advise to download the installer from korgusernet? Normally you see 3 checkboxes and yes with 2 GB you can load EXs 1 Exs 2 and Exs3 at the same time.
