Question: Is the fix just a polarity adjustment, or do I need to purchase new Korg pedals for the problem to go away?

Thanks to kind responders, both. I was suspicious that this was something in my environment, not a feature. Maybe having the thing off and reboot will affect it. Yes, I have non-korg pedals, will try that too.

Oh I see where you're going. I'll give that a try. I know filemaker will play midi files, so you're right, just need to make sure the midi commands go to the outbound midi device which they should, and that the file contains only program change info.
