It's ridiculous, they need to take a different direction with the next generation of workstations, these screens are unusable and time-consuming.

I'd opt for a simpler keyboard in terms of arpeggiators (old school arp instead of karma) etc., but with powerful tone-generating possibilities (every engine possible) with real time control - plenty and plenty of knobs that are not even assignable for the most part, so that you can navigate quickly and easily without even looking at the screen. Think, Access Virus front panel x2 rotary. And a full software integration.

"But who cares? I am just a troll."

Hey Saxi,

Your not a troll. your just an grumpy dude.

It's not your message, it is your delivery.

Korg does what they do and we can't change that.

I've spent lot's of money on keyboards from different mfg's and they all come up short in someones's eyes.

I love my Kronos and I use reading glasses to read the display and I don't think that will change.

Besides it's time to get the kingkorg & the MS-20 mini, and Use the Kronos for it's strengths.

good luck to us all.

It may be linux based, but not enabling any "unnecessary" functionality is one way they get around the common hurdles of using a "computer" -- no glitches, no latency, etc. So it's possible that enabling more I/O and pushing another screen full worth of pixels around might have undesirable side effects.

On my unit, after calibration you still need to touch slightly below the desired point on one half of the screen, vs slightly above the element on the other half of the screen. Two calibration points isn't sufficient to yield the required accuracy for the size of the UI elements involved.
True.
Some icons and buttons are too small to press a nd operate them in a comfortably way.

As an example, I never have to touch a paremeter more than one time in the OASYS, whereas in Kronos some operations take twice and even more pulsations to operate it right as supposed.
Yes I also noticed that sometimes you have to press on a checkbox instead of the text itself ... also a nearby range around a checkbox would help.

I posted in another thread a number of suggestions I had in improving the utility of the touch screen in software ... this was one of them.

I think a lot of the messages we are seeing these days on the kronos and related software show how the software world is progressing.

I am in involved with user experience and design and this is really an area that is changing things. In the past an engineer designed product that functioned properly was enough. But times have changed, well designed, user friendly, is becoming expected. Clicking over and over, important commands buried deep in hard to access menus - it was always a pain, now it just seems intolerable. Just adding "touch", "color" and "graphics" doesn't give you a modern interface. While the Kronos is totally usable and I wouldn't trade it. A few refinements that keep coming up in the forum would really bring it to a new level. IMHO

I guess we all want the perfect keyboard. I have to agree with you, however much we complain or say we would like something to be improved, the Kronos comes pretty close to the ideal board.

Korg does have user testing on beta versions. Thats a good time to communicate changes.

Folks that are passionate about useability improvement should contact Korg to participate
