Hi guys, It's been a while since I've been on Korg Forums. Here's our latest Electribe meanderings. Our live set from a recent gig in Perth, West Oz, features 2 EMX1's and an ESX1 Part 1 http://members.iinet.net.au/~godlike/LD120/steampunk/XLanDer.vs.LD120_Steampunk_(live)pt001.mp3 Part 2 http ...

Almost certainly better sending from the electribe to ableton.

Ableton has a pretty good mixing section, that the electribe doesn't have, which means that the electribe just becomes another track when mixed through ableton.

You won't have the same control using it the other way around.

The EMX's sequencer is set up to 16th notes, so the 16 pads represent 1 bar. An EMX pattern consists of up to 8 bars. Most beat structures are based around 1 bar, usually repeating. There is often a fill, or a different pattern in the 4th bar or the 8th bar depending on the style of music. If you ...

I'm pretty sure the MkII's are functionally identical. Just a better, sturdier box, and a different colour.

I've looked into the the sysex pretty extensively and it's pretty limited. It's mostly concerned with saving and loading patches. All knobs can be controlled with MIDI CC's. Note lengths can be recorded real time using MIDI notes and length, but I don't think there's a way to do it in real-time with ...

1 and 2 will require a bit more practice I'm afraid. Deleting synth parts is the same as deleting drum parts. Use the shift key and white writing on the numbered keys for functions like copying and deleting. For 3, why don't you hook up a keyboard via MIDI to play in the parts to the EMX while you ...

If you initiate a dump from one EA1, the other should receive it. I think you need to be in MIDI or Global mode for the Sysex dumps to be received (at least that's how it works on the EMX1.) I need to get my butt into gear and do some GTRC templates for the EA1 which would make all of this so much ...

Also, on the accent part, the volume still changes the relative volume of the muted and unmuted parts for the drums or synth. At one setting the muted and unmuted parts have the same volume. At the maximum setting I think the unmuted parts are silent. There's a little diagram in the manual that ...

Topic: Comparison of stock 12AX7 vs. JJ ECC83S Tubes
Replies: 22

The specific spot where the tubes distorts depends on many things. 1) The tubes themselves. How old are they, how hard have they been driven, and what type of tubes. 2) The amount of gain being applied to them and the signal. The amount of gain is controlled by the gain knob, AND by the calibration ...

I do, but I'm in Europe at the moment so won't be back in the studio for a bit. I'll post a step by step when I get a chance.

It uses SmartMedia. Maximum card size is 128 MB, though 128MB cards aren't compatible with every device, though I believe it is OK with the electribes.

The other option is to get a SmartMedia - xD card adaptor. xD cards are easier to find, but you are still limited to 128 MB

I think it would be best to tune the tubes in diagnostics mode before doing the comparison. The tuning utility adjusts the gains for the tubes, and if I ever changed tubes it would be the first thing I did. You will need to build some custom cables to do it.

I've erased probably 80% of the presets, and kept about 20% as a source of inspiration, or because there's a particular sound or pattern I like. If I hear something I like, or something interesting, I hang on to it, so I can pull it apart and find out how they did it. We sometimes use say a hihat ...

That's a good forum, but not much in the way of free downloads, unless that has changed in the last 6 months. I haven't been there in awhile. I did purchase a soundset from one of their members awhile back--some good patches. :soundsgood Try the Mastering VAST forum http://www.cunka.com/forum/index ...
