Re: Horrific portamento
I also have a Kronos and portamento is great. I would expect great portamento in Kronos, with its variety of sound engines. But what about their strictly sample-based workstations, i.e. Kross and Krome? Is the problem really specific to PA series? Or does it occur in any Korg that uses only sample ...

Re: Horrific portamento
Solve the portamento once and for all! It was terrible on the entire PA series! ”Time portamento” should work at least like on the triton series! I'm curious how it differs from the Triton. In general, portamento is problematic on any board that generates its sounds from samples. It's one of the adv ...

Re: Send transpose by midi
It work fine with my Nautilus. Also I know that it can work with Kronos, some Tritons, Roland Fantom's. Not working with Yamaha Montage, Modx. I don't know about Ketron, Kurzweil... Whether or not a keyboard (in this case, the Pa5X) sends transposed notes over MIDI (to some other device) will be ...

Re: Send transpose by midi
Yes but it isn't I don't have a Pa5x, but it works on my PA1000. If I connect a MIDI monitor app to the Korg, and play, say, middle C, the MIDI monitor will display that I played a C... and if I hit the front panel transpose+ button and play the same key, MIDI monitor will tell me that I am indeed ...

Re: Send transpose by midi
I'm not familiar with the Ketron, but just speaking generally, transpose is not something directly supported by MIDI, there is no standard MIDI command for it, so the transpose button on the Korg would not be expected to affect the transpose function on other devices... but the actual notes you play ...

I'd be interested in connecting an EC5 to a PA1000.

Re: Future of the Nautilus.
Yeah, I think current plans would be to keep both. They're at different price points, and Nautilus also appeals to people who like the sounds but find the Kronos control surface overwhelming. Plus Nautilus gives you the much lighter weight 73 for those who prefer a non-hammer version. (Of course ...

Re: Korg Multi / Poly vs KingKORG
In terms of emulation of classic synths, KK emulated assorted filers, e.g. Minimoog, Oberheim SEM, and Prophet 5, but as I just mentioned in another thread, the Multi-Poly also emulates not just the classic filters, but also envelope and portamento behaviors, which gives it a leg up in that function ...

Re: Additional Synth to complement Kronos ?
There are tons of dedicated synth boards/modules to choose from. Since you mentioned prog/classic rock, though, I think the new Korg Multi/Poly looks like it would be a good choice (currently a keyboard, with a keyboardless module version on the way). It has settings to emulate the filters, envelope ...

Re: problem solved
not sure what happened, but I tried plugging the pedal, which is in fact just a switch, not a damper pedal, into the damper input and it works as it should now. Now to open 'er up again and check the muting circuit for my other problem of barely audible outs. Most damper pedals (AKA sustain pedals ...

Something else you may find useful... Kronos has 9 engines... 3 of them ARE available as very similar VSTs, I don't think there's any way to move the programs back and forth between the Kronos and VST versions, but at least you can get much the same sounds/capabilities/approach for those kinds of ...

Unfortunately manny splits will not help you. As I understand from your mail you need the chords on a key. We have this option on Kronos but is not available in Nautilus. I didn't see the mail so this may not be relevant, but you should be able to put chords on a Nautilus' keys by putting the same ...
