Hey that really works! I had been storing my M3 in the box on it's back for a few months and when I set it up today I also found that several keys did not sound. So I tried your technique of simultaneously striking the keys on either side of the non-working key and it and now all the keys work. Does ...

My jog wheel has pretty much failed. I have to spin it alot to get it to move even a little in either direction. I've contacted a local service center who say they can service it. They suggested there may be debris on the inside which can be cleaned. Otherwise the unit would have to be replaced. Is ...

They could have chosen Roland, Yamaha, Novation, Moog, Nord, Access, or Alesis but, no, they chose the most awesome musical instrument company known to man...and the most awesome workstation ever made! Go Korg!!!

Any updates on Jog wheel performance?

Nedim or Biggrime (or anyone else),

Any changes in the jog wheel performance since you last wrote? Has it gotten worse? Did you replace it? Find a workaround?

For me, no noticeable changes but then I have not been using the wheel that much ( i mostly use it in sampling).

Even better, there is a multisound of the ARP Solina String Ensemble called StrEns-Slina stored in multisound number 411 (388 if you still have version 1.2 or less).

You might not need any overdrive. I think this is mostly a modulated pulse waveform with the oscillators stacked in unison. Not sure how you would do this on an M50, though. You might try using the envelopes and LFO to mix back and forth between two different pulse waveforms assigned to oscillators ...

I've seen this problem on the M3 and other Korg boards including the X-50, typically store display models that have been abused. Roland used to use something similar on their Alpha Juno models and I remember seeing them slip also. This is probably just wear and tear on a weak mechanical device. I've ...

I accidentally found a really cool way of using the XY controller in sequencing. In sequence mode I was using a program where I had set X to cutoff and Y to resonance. The accident part came when I had forgotten to change the quantization back from eighth notes to hi. When I started recording a ...

Limiting Polyphony in a Program

Is there a way to limit the polyphony in a program to, say, 8? In other words, when I hold down 8 notes and then play a 9th note, the first note I played stops playing. This is desirable as it allows me to better emulate older synthesizers. I did an end-to-end search of the parameter guide with ...

Could you describe more how you are generating the wavetables and how you are using them? Last year I created a series of single cycle (mono/analog) waveforms sampled from the Sequential Circuits Prophet VS. The M3 already has several VS waveforms in its ROM that were carried over from the ...

Sirgant1,

The manual for the MS box instructs the user to send sys ex messages to program the box. I was wondering if you planned to purchase the MS box and, if so, how you plan to send the sys ex messages.

I emailed John Fast at Midisolutions and he has clarified that you do need to plug something into both midi in and out ports of the MS box. However, the midi input to the MS box does not need to be separate keyboard controller but instead could be M3 itself. He has allowed me to post his reponse ...
