yes you need to assign them both. and how to assign on the MS should be written in the manual. i dont have a MS. but itshould be somewhere under combi section in the manual. or.. if you are able to load the editor in windows itself then it should be a breeze to find.

and if you dont use midicables just the USB cable then disregard my midicables comment

I see now. take a combi on the MS and assign every sound that is in the combi to a differerent midichannel. piano=ch 1 strings=ch 2 ect... Make in reaper several miditracks with the same channels as on the MS. that should do the job. make also sure that your mbox is transmitting midi to reaper. in ...

In reaper... goto preferences. find on the left side VST. select and you see that you can scan for vst"s or add a folder where a vst is located. now you just have to add the folder where the MS editor is located. Remember that the MS editor is not a virtual synth, just an editor. Hope this help.

lower the speed of the transmission in sendXS. this helped me with dumping sysex on some older synths.

awesome and breathtaking.

it happend to me from time to time. i solved it by shorten the releastimes of the sounds i made and the reverbs releasetime. i guess this has simply to do with voicestealing. i dont have the problem anymore. i suggest to try this first.

M50 is an awesome synth

it works for me. turned it on pressed shift+8, turn knob 1/cutoff to the left.
so it should work for you also.

What's keeping you from making them yourself
Korg's sounddesigners team made those sounds and drums to appeal to all kinds of musicians. I have the M50 myself and i like that workstation.
